Code of Conduct

  • Attitude is everything.
  • Go for every shot, even if you don't think you can save it! You might just surprise yourself.
  • Most things to do with being a goalkeeper involves some level of pain. The ball hurts, the ground hurts, being kicked hurts, get over it.
  • Look like a slob, play like a slob. Look good, play good. Tuck your shirt in, gloves on, socks pulled up, shoes polished. If you can't be a great goalkeeper, at least look like one.
  • Gloves on at all times. You must always be ready to step into the goal when asked.
  • Tie your shoe laces tight. If your shoe comes untied, now you have to take off your gloves, now you are not ready to train.
  • There is no such thing as an easy save. Treat every situation like you are playing in the World Cup final and the score is 0-0. You not only defend a goal, you defend a nation.
  • The goal posts are not your friend.
  • Make the second effort. If you drop the ball, fall on it as quickly as possible. If you don't like the rule, don't drop the ball.
  • Don't be nice. Play hard. Take no prisoners. Do you want to be liked, or do you want to be a great goalkeeper?
  • If you fall down, get back up.
  • Respect is earned.
  • I promise to do my best. My best will vary from day to day, from minute to minute, but in that minute I will do the very best I can.
  • Don't show up to training on time, show up early.
  • Practice does not make perfect, practice makes permanent. You must always give your best in practice and strive to improve your technique, your fitness, and your attitude.
  • Strive for perfection, settle for excellence.
  • Sometimes you have to suffer first, before good things happen to you.
  • Do something everyday to make yourself a better goalkeeper.
  • The harder you work, the harder it is to surrender.
  • When you get your chance, make sure you are ready to make the most of it. You may not get a second one.
  • Winning is a habit. So is losing. Get into the habit of winning.
  • Never say I can't. Try, try again. Failure is part of the learning process. Quitting is not.
  • We do not take short cuts, or cheat. You must do the work.
  • Just make the save, no one says it has to be pretty. Get the job done!
  • Great goalkeepers save all of the ones they are suppose to and some of the ones they are not suppose to.
  • Be a student of the game. The game of soccer can be very cruel and unforgiving. That is why it is such a great game.
  • Learn the hard way, or learn the easy way. We don't care, but you will learn.
  • Coach says, players do.
  • We will not ask you to do anything we would not, or have not already done ourselves.
  • The coaches are not here to be your friend. They don't care if you like them or not. The coaches sole purpose is to make you a better goalkeeper. Period.

"The perfect goalkeeper has yet to be born, nor is he/she made overnight."
